PROJECTS & MISSIONS

We started by helping the Filipino children who were living at the dump sites or on the streets. We provided shelter, meals, clothing and school supplies. With the help of many generous benefactors, we have expanded our mission and we are currently working on several important projects, which will help many more people.

Former Cebu City Mayor, Tomas Osmeña, started a project called Cebu City Frontline Clusters (CCFC). Under the direction of Dr. Alice Utlang, who is also FAMFI’s OIC, CCFC is composed of different city departments. They periodically travel to the remote and mountainous areas of Cebu to provide free services such as medical, dental, legal – even garbage service. Since August of 2007 FAMFI has helped support this project by supplying medicine and vitamins.  Our contribution has already helped hundreds of needy people.

Our FAMFI President in the Philippines, Mr. Cris Caparoso, is also the Executive Director of Cebu City YMCA, and the Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Talisay.  He was able to get the YMCA and the Rotary Club to support the efforts of  FAMFI.  I know the input of ideas and energy from these two organizations will be very beneficial.  As of July 2010, we are officially affiliated with them.  Our main project with this new alliance is a mobile dental clinic that caters to people that live in the mountain and remote areas of Cebu and neighboring cities.

Cebu YMCA launches “LILY” project a health and hunger project of Cebu YMCA, Rotary Club of Talisay-Cebu, Omnilogy INC., Mount Moriah Lodge 252, Cebu Queen City Lions Club, VOG- Vehicle Owners Group and Y’s Men International- Philippine Region and FAMFI over the best forskolin.

HEALTH & HUNGER PROJECT

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by ‘I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless and you took me in.’” —Mother Teresa

I’m so happy that our 1st feeding program in Ormoc City in Partnership with Emmanuel Fundamental Baptist Church – Pastor Joel Odango was very successful. There were at least 70 children per Pastro Joel.

Our 1st feeding mission is dedicated in memory of my late maternal grandfather Tatay Eulogio “Oloy” Sacay – March 11, 1911 – Jan. 10, 1996.

Tatay Oloy, you’re always on my mind; forever in my heart! Untill we meet again some day…

Always, Christine *_*

YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Autism – Special Ed Class of Ormoc City Central School

With all my heart I support my cousin

 ALJO SACAY RACAZA

Autistic children should be considered by their parents as

blessings from above, not a curse.

This was the reminder of Ormoc City Mayor Eric Codilla during the launching of the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) – Ormoc City Chapter, last April 26 at the Multi- Purpose Hall, New Ormoc City Hall.Mayor Beboy shared that it is really a predicament at first to be a parent of an autistic kid or a special child. But he shared his belief later on, that it is a sign of God’s love and trust to them that the Lord imparted to them the responsibility to nurture His special children.

Ormoc City’s First Lady Julida M. Codilla also extends her advocacy program through the Special Education Classes of Ormoc City Central School. The program which started its operation three years ago proved to be effective, according to Teacher Arlene P. Sia, during an interview in her classroom.

She backed up her claims with the increased enrollment of children with Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Celebral Palsy, and other intellectual and multiple disabilities, with ages ranging from 5 to 38 years old. The mayor has a special child enrolled in the central school’s special education class.

Morning sessions are confined to communication arts, social development, motor and recreational activities, music and arts and remediation. Afternoon sessions focus on sports and physical development, numeracy, vocational training and functional literacy and other tutorial learning activities.

Sia says there’s no gap or difference about teaching children with disabilities, as she applies love and care to them similarly to how she would her own two children. Sia has 17 years experience in teaching, including 3 years in special education in OCCS. She hopes to a more accepting society where parents will no longer ashamed to send special children to school or visit public places.

FAMFI Chapel – The Immaculate Conception of Mary

8th December – Feast of Immaculate Conception

(Holy day of obligation)

On December 8, we honor Mary, our Mother on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (a Holy Day of Obligation).   The doctrine states, that “the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race.”

“The Blessed Virgin Mary…”

The subject of this immunity from original sin is the person of Mary at the moment of the creation of her soul and its infusion into her body.

“…in the first instance of her conception…”

The term conception does not mean the active or generative conception by her parents. Her body was formed in the womb of the mother, and the father had the usual share in its formation. The question does not concern the immaculateness of the generative activity of her parents. Neither does it concern the passive conception absolutely and simply (conceptio seminis carnis, inchoata), which, according to the order of nature, precedes the infusion of the rational soul. The person is truly conceived when the soul is created and infused into the body. Mary was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin at the first moment of her animation, and sanctifying grace was given to her before sin could have taken effect in her soul.

“…was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin…”

The formal active essence of original sin was not removed from her soul, as it is removed from others by baptism; it was excluded, it never was in her soul. Simultaneously with the exclusion of sin. the state of original sanctity, innocence, and justice, as opposed to original sin, was conferred upon her, by which gift every stain and fault, all depraved emotions, passions, and debilities, essentially pertaining to original sin, were excluded. But she was not made exempt from the temporal penalties of Adam — from sorrow, bodily infirmities, and death.

“…by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race.”

The immunity from original sin was given to Mary by a singular exemption from a universal law through the same merits of Christ, by which other men are cleansed from sin by baptism. Mary needed the redeeming Saviour to obtain this exemption, and to be delivered from the universal necessity and debt (debitum) of being subject to original sin. The person of Mary, in consequence of her origin from Adam, should have been subject to sin, but, being the new Eve who was to be the mother of the new Adam, she was, by the eternal counsel of God and by the merits of Christ, withdrawn from the general law of original sin. Her redemption was the very masterpiece of Christ’s redeeming wisdom. He is a greater redeemer who pays the debt that it may not be incurred than he who pays after it has fallen on the debtor.

Such is the meaning of the term “Immaculate Conception.”
