Volunteer!

FAMFI welcomes volunteers!

If you are between 13 and 95 years old – we want you!

Volunteers are the backbone of every community. We welcome volunteers and have a great variety of volunteer opportunities from one-time projects to ongoing assistance with medical and dental missions, sports activities,  feeding program, data entry, bulk mail, and much more.

What is Volunteering means?

In general terms, volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others or a particular cause without payment for their time and services.

Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity, intended to promote good or improve human quality of life, but people also volunteer for their own skill development, to meet others, to make contacts for possible employment, to have fun, and a variety of other reasons that could be considered self-serving.

Volunteering takes many forms and is performed by a wide range of people. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work in, such as  medicine, education or  emergency rescue.  Other volunteers serve on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural disaster or for a beach-cleanup.

Help us discover the best way to put your talents to use. If you would like more information about our volunteer program, please contact one of our locations by phone or e-mail.

While many of our friends around the world share their material possessions with our FAMFI’s children and their family, many others share themselves– their time, energy and skills. Others help organize events and contribute their professional knowledge and expertise.

A Volunteer’s Prayer

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for calling me to serve others in Your Name.
I want to offer my time and talents generously that I might
do my best for those who need me.
Help me to remember that what I do for others I do for You.
May every act of service I do reflect my faith in You,
and may my love and understanding be a true sign
of  Your deep love and compassion.
Strengthen me, Dear Savior, to say “yes” to all that you ask of me this day.
Let me serve you well and offer to all I meet
the gifts that you have given me.
I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

How can we expect our children to know and experience the joy of giving unless we teach them that the greater pleasure in life lies in the art of giving rather than receiving.
- James Cash Penny

Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve… You only need a heart full  of grace. A soul generated by love…   – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.  – Winston Churchil

I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now.  Let me not defer or neglect it,  for I shall not pass this way again.   - Mahatma Gandhi

Volunteering can be an exciting, growing, enjoyable experience. It is truly gratifying to serve a cause, practice one’s ideals, work with people, solve problems, see benefits, and know one had a hand in them.   - Harriet Naylor

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. We can do no great things, only small things with great love. - Mother Teresa

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.  - Margaret Mead
